AC service in Washington County
Chipley is about forty-five minutes from our shop, so we run Washington County as a scheduled route rather than pretending we can be there in an hour. That honesty is the service.
How we handle the distance
We will not tell you we are twenty minutes away when we are not. What we do instead:

What is different up here
Older housing stock, retrofitted ducts. A lot of Washington County homes had central air added long after they were built. That usually means undersized ductwork routed through unconditioned crawlspaces or attics, and it is why so many homes here have one room that never cools. Replacing the condenser will not fix that; correcting the duct will.
Longer runs, bigger houses, more zoning need. Rural lots mean sprawling single-storey layouts, which are exactly the case where zoning earns its cost.
Well water and hard water affect condensate systems and any humidification equipment differently than city water does.
Propane instead of natural gas across much of the county, which changes what heating equipment makes sense.
Permits in Washington County
Permits for unincorporated Washington County and for Chipley are handled by the Washington County Building Department, 1331 South Boulevard Suite 900, Chipley. We are registered there and pull permits ourselves.
Note for anyone comparing contractors: certified state contractors pay no county licence fee in Washington County, only a small administration fee — so a “county licensing surcharge” on a quote is worth questioning.
